We build the computer that stays in the room

Amber Technologies, Inc. makes one thing: Amber, a standalone AI home computer that sits on a counter, a console or a bedside table and answers when you talk to her. No keyboard, no mouse, no phone to pair. You say "Hii Amber", and she does the rest.

Why we started

Everything useful a computer does has been folded into a device we hold six inches from our faces. It works, and it has quietly changed how a house feels: heads down at dinner, a phone propped against the kettle, homework done on a screen only one person can see. We wanted the useful part back in the room, at a size two people can share, without the rest of it coming along.

What we are building

One wide landscape touchscreen above a speaker base that runs the full width of the body. The whole front of that base is a single piece of cast filigree, and the sound comes through the metal. She listens from across a room, shows a recipe you can read from the far side of a counter, takes a call, runs the lights, and stays in sync with every other Amber in the house.

Made like an object, not a gadget

Mother-of-pearl, onyx and rose quartz. Cast champagne, gunmetal and rose gold. Three knurled metal knobs you feel click. Shell and stone are never identical twice, so no two units carry light the same way. Amber is meant to be worth looking at when nobody is using her, which is most of the day.

Where we are

Amber is in development. The hardware is being finalised with our manufacturing partners, and the First Edition is open for pre-order now. We publish the final specification before the first units ship, and we would rather tell reservation holders something inconvenient early than something comfortable late.
