Amber Technologies, Inc. is building Amber, a standalone AI home computer made for the room rather than the pocket. The First Edition is open for pre-order, and we are talking to investors, manufacturing partners and retailers.
The product
One wide landscape touchscreen on a full-width speaker base, driven by voice and touch, with no keyboard, no mouse and no phone dependency. Several units in one home stay in sync with each other. The materials, mother-of-pearl, stone and cast metal, place Amber in the furniture category rather than the appliance category, and that is where the pricing lives.
The opening
Smart speakers solved voice and lost the screen. Smart displays added a screen too small to share. Phones and tablets solved the screen and handed it back to one person. Amber is built for the space none of them occupies: a shared object, in a room, that a household uses without picking anything up.
Where the company is
Amber is in development. The industrial design is fixed, the hardware is being finalised with manufacturing partners, and the First Edition is taking reservations. Timelines, unit economics and the current specification are shared under NDA.
